All Alone -Version II by Calgary M
All Alone Version II He had a little girl real pretty and fine and she left his home for a very long time. He thought love and life were lost, but he didn’t realize what it really cost. Thinking that he made a big mistake, still didn’t tell, didn’t think it would take. On the day she left she looked at him and she started to cry but she had a grin. She hitched a ride and rode all night and when she looked to the left, couldn’t leave his side. Now meanwhile he was at home, he had his wife, but he was still alone. “Forbidden love”, he thought in his mind but he was wrong, what a waste of time. She went on with her young life wondering if he knew, she lived his advice. But soon she asked, “Where is Mister Right, are they all gone, did I leave him that night”? And the years went by, and then he knew, love so deep ain’t dirty, but true. One rainy night after they were through, she went for a drive and where she went, he never knew. She pulled on over when she saw the phone, looked in her purse and then dialed home. Talking to her mother she said all of her hi’s, “Where’s the old man”?. She started to shake and cry. He walked to the line, thought he would try, a crack in his voice and a tear in his eye. She said, “Hello Daddy I’m doing fine, can you talk for a while, do you have the time”? He said, “ Baby I’ve been so blue, always afraid to show that I love you”. “Now don’t you worry, you done right by me, with a love so large I’d be blind not to see”. So they talked all night, and they stayed on the phone, and when they were done, they were not all alone. She’s goin home. Nov94 M.J.S. |
