Let 'em have it
by Fly Girl

As someone who has to commute to Silicon Valley to support a house in
Monterey, I have not seen a truer piece about the shattered nature of the
Monterey economy. It is sad to live amidst the despair. I escape it most
of
the time because I leave for work at 6:15 am and come home at 7:30 pm.
Then
on weekends, I am way to tired to even be half-conscious of what is going
on.

There are a lot of houses for sale in New Monterey. The job base does not
meet the cost of living. I wonder who will buy them. There is a train that
goes from Gilroy to Silicon Valley, Cal-train. But Monterey hasn't figured
out that they need a bus that would go from Monterey to Gilroy. Maybe city
officials need to drink more carrot juice or something.

What really needs to happen is that Cal-train has to come to Salinas or
Pacific Grove. They did mention that Cal-train was coming to the Monterey
Peninsula, but the promise seems vague, as if in a dream.

Anyway, good piece Mr. Jimmy. Let 'em have it.
